PEQUANNOCK _ It was championship caliber week so it was fitting that it was capped by a game that was akin to a final.
West Morris, which defeated Jefferson and Whippany Park, rallied and scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to gain an 8-7 victory over four-time defending champion Pequannock in a Morris County Tournament quarterfinal on Saturday, April 27.
HANOVER _ Whippany Park coach Tom Wilson made modest requests of Alana Dudley when she was a freshman, asking her to provide some scoring and defense off the bench.
Each year of high school, Dudley's role increased. By her senior season, she excelled in every aspect of the game and made all of it seem effortless.
PEQUANNOCK _ Thoughts would race through Melissa Tahan's mind every time she stepped into the batter's box.
Tahan, Pequannock's junior second baseman, had a tendency to scrutinize and analyze. She was obsessed with every aspect of every at-bat, seeking perfection and a hit.
CHATHAM _ McCall Moore enjoyed much of the fanfare that came with being one of the top teams in Morris County.
Moore liked the respect and attention afforded Chatham in recent seasons. She thought it was terrific having reliable left-hander Amanda Fazio in the pitching circle.
